Top of the list is Poynton’s Christmas Fest now in its 6th year which will be taking place on Tuesday 4th December. Park Lane will be shut from 7-9 and Dan Pepper, Poynton’s Paralympic swimmer, will be on hand to help open the event at 7pm from the first floor balcony of the Tarantella Restaurant, with support from the Town Mayor and Father Christmas.

This includes: Dance groups, the Concert Band and the Samba band from the High School, the St George’s Singers, ‘Flute Pastilles’, the Explosive dance group, community carol singing, ‘Tuba Smarties’ (a brass ensemble), and street entertainers ‘Artemis’ and ‘Bread and Butter’.

There will also be a children’s roundabout towards the bottom of Park Lane, Round Table’s Father Christmas, and a Poynton fire engine on show, and a number of local voluntary organisations will have stands on Park Lane. Remembrance Sunday

On the 11th November Poynton held its annual Remembrance Day ceremony at the War Memorial and the ATC Cadets led the march to St George’s Church. Representatives from the civilian committee are proud to say that ‘the Squadron were impeccable and were the pride of the village on this important occasion’. If you think you’d like to get become a member of the ATC Cadets please follow the link to the website where you can find further information.

Remembrance Sunday also saw the last shift for PCSO Chris Howard and PCSO Rob Massey who have left to begin training as warranted Police Officers. Both have given an immense amount to the village and we wish them best of luck in their future careers. The future of our Neighborhood Police Team sees 2 new experienced PCSOs joining us already members of the force in Cheshire East and we look forward to welcoming them to the village.

Looking Ahead…

I’ve now been in post for a year, I’ve had a lot of fun in this role, getting to know the community and developing the youth activities and events in Poynton. If  you have any thoughts for future activities or plans for the new year please let me know. One particular event that we will start to plan again is the annual family fun day, so if you or your group would like to be involved please let me know.

I look forward to another successful year ahead.

Best wishes,

Erica
