A Music and Youth Festival is being held in Poynton on Sunday 13th October 2013, featuring live bands, DJs plus numerous activities and inspiration for young people. The event is part of Oxjam Macclesfield which aims to raise funds for Oxfam, but we are also inviting as many local Youth Groups as possible to provide information and inspiration to the local youth community. I have supported the organisation on this event along with several local community groups, including local youth radio station Phase One Radio, 1st Poynton Scout Group.
The event will take place on Sunday October 13th with music from 12:30 to 5pm at Poynton Sport Club. Although entry is free, all attendees will be encouraged to donate £3 in return for an Oxjam wrist band which will also grant access to around 28 live music gigs around Macclesfield throughout the month of October.
Around 5-6 local young bands will be playing at the event, including “The Ordinary” and Aziz Ibrahim from The Stone Roses! Mike Chisholm from Phase One Radio said;” We are pleased that so many young bands and youth groups are supporting this cause. We are hoping for good weather, but have a contingency in the form of a function room for the live music.”
The aim of the Youth Group element of the event is to encourage the younger Poynton residents to participate in challenging and rewarding “out of school” activities. Poynton is the home of many successful Youth Groups and this event will bring them together in a united cause.
So please spread the word, come along and have some fun!
